Trevi Swimming Pools Installation Team is Unreliable in Scheduling

This company is not the best at scheduling installation.

I was to have them install the pool between the 4th week of July and the 1st week of August. Weather permitting. This certainly did not happen. It took them until Thursday Aug 7 to deliver the parts.  I called them Monday Aug 11, at 1:00 pm and left a message. They were to return my call that afternoon. That did not happen. Being a patient person I called Tuesday morning and was put through to a person named Anique, who is in charge of installation scheduling. I was promptly put on hold for 3 minutes.

When I got to speak with her I asked when they could do the job. I asked for a Saturday and was told no, because the company was having a party that day. I then agreed to have the work done Thursday afternoon Aug 14th. Fair enough. She said they had a job in Orleans and would then be able to drive out to my place to do the job. I would take half the day off, without pay of coarse.

So it is now Thursday Aug 14th 2:00 pm and so far no one has shown up, except for myself that is. 3:00 I get the call. "Sorry we have a big job and can't make it."  I expressed my displeasure. They felt I was being unreasonable. I asked for compensation for my time off work and was laughed at. I will accept cash or merchandise. My offer was flatly refused.

I then got the number for the general manager. Jean Marc. I told him my situation with his team. I realize there is this thing called bad weather, however. I must take it on faith that this is the case. Jean Marc and Anique both told me that the job was a large pool and a major installation.. Why would they have booked two installations in one day knowing before hand that the first one was a big job and the traveling time between the two was at least a one hour drive?  The weather was 30 C, and sunny all day. If they had such a big job and knew that they would not be able to do a second installation, which would have been me, they could have at least made a reasonable effort to contact me earlier in the day, rather than waiting until 3 hours beyond the agreed upon time to call me.

When I originally scheduled the installation date  I took it on faith that they knew what they were doing and they had the for thought to know how long their jobs take and the fact that its sweltering hot in the Ottawa Valley in the summer and Orleans Ont. is a one hour drive from my residence.

I'd say the Trevi Pool Installation Team where not born yesterday and knew the potential for a scheduling hassle. Not for them, but for me. The customer. I should have just installed the pool myself.

I could not in good faith recommend that a potential customer use Tevi Pools due to my experience in customer abuse and a broken contract by them.

Aug 15

The installers are finally here, 1.5 hours late. At least they called me at 6:30 to tell me they would be late. I've now taken a full day off work.

The crew removes the sod. There is a part on the contract regarding the bottom drain and normally the pool has a flat bottom. The  dish shape allows less vacuuming the say and the dish also allows people to "cannon ball" into the pool.

Price to be determined by the installer. Its in the contract, although vaguely written. This came out to another $600.00.  The installers, bless them, gave me a price break after I told them that Trevi Pools hadn't even put a shovel in the ground and the installation has already cost me $600.00 in their mismanagement of the installation process. . They gave me the dish shape for $325.00 cash.

At the end I tipped the crew $100. They left and the pool leaks around the pump return fitting. I don't want to call them to fix it being afraid the cost will again start to rise.

4:00 PM I called Trevi Pools and spoke with the professional salesman with whom I dealt when I first signed the contract. He is a decent man. I explained my situation regarding the missed appointment and he admitted to me that , yes, Trevi Pools did have a managerial problem when it came to scheduling its installations and that it is improper to call after the date has been missed. No compensation was offered. He made a sales pitch for me to bring my pool water to be sampled. I have no intention of ever setting foot in their door again. I'm sorry Paul.

Hind sight is always 20/20. I wish I never bought a swimming pool. Its far more stress than it is worth for me. But I must admit that swimming in our back yard is heavenly. But I still have this nagging feeling it could turn into hell.
