Biography Notes..." These are true copies of the papers signed in Sutherlandshire, Scotland. Marriage banns of Grandfather and Grandmother MacKintosh: January 2, 1827. That the business between John MacKintosh and Janet Murray, both residing in Torbole,
were duly intimated by public proclamation, made in the parish church here on three
several Sundays, and no oblections offered, is at Dornoch on the second day of January
Eighteen hundred and twenty eight years attested by John Daerdson, Kirk Session Colh. Letters of Reference: Elgin, 9th November 1827 The bearer John MacKintosh has beit a great many thousand eves of day Stin Dikes upon
my farm at Newport to great satisfaction and has behaved himself entirely all that time in
a most respectable manner; This I assert to be truth. These certify that John MacKintosh in Torbole to trade a shoemaker and his spouse Janet
Murray are of good character and reputation here and are about to depart from this country
with one lawful child, and we know of nothing to hinder their reception into any Chritian
society or family where Providence may order their lot; Given by appointment of the Kirk
session of Dornoch this twenty-first day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty.
