Passed peacefully away at home in Ottawa on January 13th, after a short battle with cancer.  Bill was born in Trinity, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland in 1931.

Husband and best friend of Irene (Gibbons) for 45 years.  Beloved father of Michael (Judi), Brian, Kevin, Terry (Sandy), Carol (Rod), Maureen (Roger), Ann (Mike), Pat, Billy.  Grandfather of Julia, Peter, Helen, Adam and Kyle. Dear brother of Arthur (Joan), sister Lily (David), brothers and sisters-in-law Fergus (Betty), Edna (Bren), Sr. Michelle Gibbons, Harold (Lillian), Dick (Mary), Jerry (Lorna) and Bridget (Bill) as well as many other close relations and friends including Peg St. Croix, Dolores , Bill and Betty Hayter.

Memorial service at St. Augustine's Church, Ottawa.  11:00 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2000.

Interment in St. John's, Newfoundland later this year.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

We will always remember Dad's courage, fairness and humour, but most of all, his love.
