Members of the Gibbons family who can trace their ancestory back to St Vincent's, St Mary's Bay are decendents of Timothy Gibbons and Elizabeth Halleran.1808-1889) We know nothing of Timothy's date or place of birth but that he came to St Vincents sometime around 1830 and married Elizabeth, one of th Halleran girls whose family were already living there.

    In the years between 1832 and 1850 they parented a family of twelve children, almost of whom survived to carry on and estalbish a line of hundred's if not thousands of  offspring in various parts of Canada.

    Elizabeth's headstone is still visible in the Cemetery at St Vincents.
